Rufus T. Firefly es un grupo de rock alternativo de Aranjuez (Madrid), formado en 2006 por Víctor Cabezuelo (voz y guitarra), Carlos Campos (guitarra), Julia Martín-Maestro (batería) y Sara Oliveira (bajo). Más tarde se les une Alberto Rey (teclados). Toman su nombre del personaje de los Hermanos Marx en la película Sopa de ganso.

 



En el año 2013 fueron seleccionados en el circuito GPS, lo cual ayudó a dar un impulso importante a su carrera, a llevar su directo a ciudades en las que en condiciones normales hubiera sido más complicado y sobre todo a publicar “Grunge” (Origami Récords 2014), un EP experimental en que la banda se encerró en el local durante varios meses para dejarse llevar y buscar nuevos sonidos que ayudarían a dar forma a su último trabajo, “Nueve“.

 



“Nueve” (Lago Naranja Récords 2014) es sin duda el disco más personal y elaborado de la banda, contando otra vez con Manuel Cabezalí al mando y Dany Richter al sonido.
El disco, del que la banda ya ha enseñado un adelanto llamado “Pompeya“, y en el que han colaborado otros artistas como Martí Perarnau o Jaime García Soriano, vió la luz el 18 de Noviembre del 2014 y ha entrado directo al número 1 de los mejores discos nacionales para la revista Mondosonoro.

 



Rufus T. Firefly en la actualidad es un referente par un gran número de grupos noveles y en algunos medios ya se empieza a habla de ellos como “grupo de culto”. Ellos siguen fieles a su esencia intimista, aventurera e inconformista, lo que les ha llevado a ser una de las bandas independientes mejor valoradas del panorama nacional.

En 2008 grabaron su primer trabajo de larga duración, My Synthetic Heart. Se trataba de un álbum totalmente autoproducido. Sus once canciones llevaron a la joven banda a finales de concursos y recopilatorios, y comenzaron a tener un reconocimiento dentro del circuito underground, con el apoyo de la crítica.

 

 


En febrero de 2011, con un año de silencio y el cambio al español en las letras, Rufus T. Firefly sacaron un Ep llamado La historia secreta de nuestra obsolescencia programada. Este segundo trabajo, también autoproducido, fue grabado en los estudios El Lado Izquierdo, a los mandos de Dany Ritcher (Russian Red, Christina Rosenvinge…) y bajo la batuta de Manuel Cabezalí (Havalina, The Cabriolets…), lo que supuso una notable mejora en el sonido.
En la gira para presentar el Ep comenzaron a contar con la colaboración eventual del teclista Alberto Rey. Las críticas dieron buena acogida a las cinco canciones que conforman este trabajo en medios y en concursos como el XIV Concurso Nacional de Pop-Rock de Rivas Vaciamadrid, del que resultaron ganadores.

Ø (2012) fue el tercer trabajo de estudio (segundo larga duración) de Rufus T. Firefly, y el que supuso un punto de inflexión en la carrera de la banda. Ahora con cinco miembros, sumando definitivamente a Alberto Rey a los teclados. Esta vez el disco fue editado por el sello discográfico Lago Naranja Records.
Repitiendo el acierto de trabajar en El Lado Izquierdo con Dany Ritcher y Manuel Cabezalí, el disco se grabó en mayo y vio la luz en septiembre, apareciendo en numerosas reseñas muy valoradas en medios nacionales como Ruta 66, o la revista cultural de El País (Tentaciones).

Muestras de su alcance y repercusión son el haber sido elegido como unos de los mejores discos del año 2012 en numerosos medios nacionales como Mondosonoro, CQ, Neo2… o el haber estado sonando durante meses a lo largo y ancho de la programación de Radio 3 y otras emisoras nacionales.
